Mr Darren Carpenter
Darren Carpenter is the Chief Operating Officer and defacto Deputy Chief Executive of the Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust (DCAT); responsible for the operations of the academies within the Trust and those converting. Darren is also DCAT's Accounting Officer and Company Secretary. He has worked in school finance and School Business Management for a number of years in several schools including special, primary and secondary phases. As well as having experience of maintained schools and academies, he has also worked in independent sector schools, with responsibilities including procuring and managing services. He has provided School Business Management consultancy to a number of maintained and independent schools in the UK and further afield and held governor roles in a number of schools and academies over a ten year period.
Chief Education Executive
Mark has been in senior roles in Eastbourne, Hastings and Berkshire for over 15 years. He has also experience of working to support other schools. Currently Principal at St Catherine's College in Eastbourne, he has a passion for church school education. He leads a child-centred culture with a belief that every child can achieve his/her God-given potential. This, along with other successes, has led to his current school being judged as outstanding for its Christian leadership and distinctiveness as well as being heavily oversubscribed.
Senior Education Leader
Mr Beruk Berhane
Beruk Berhane is a Senior Education Leader; accountable to the Trust for the educational performance of the four DCAT academies in the Hastings and St Leonards area. As such he has line management responsibility for the head teachers in their allocated academies and represents the Trust at LGB meetings.
Beruk has worked in schools for over 17 years. He has been a leader both in the primary and secondary phases. His subject specialism is mathematics and he also has expertise in special educational needs and pastoral care.
